A Bluetooth shower speaker is a type of wireless music player designed specifically to be used in the bathroom. It connects wirelessly via bluetooth with your smartphone or other device, allowing you to play all kinds of media through its speakers while taking a bath or shower.
Why are shower speakers so small?
Shower speakers are so small because they need to stay dry, and the smaller it is, the less likely water gets inside. Additionally, the average shower is not a large space either. Shower speakers are designed to fit into a shower without overwhelming the limited space available.
Why do I want a shower speaker? Can’t I just use my phone?
If your phone is fully waterproof, of course, you could just use your phone. However, the convenience of a shower speaker means it’s easy to mount to the shower wall or hang from the faucet, something your phone can’t do. The audio quality of a shower speaker will also generally be superior.
What other kinds of speakers can I use?
Any speaker with a waterproof rating will work for use inside a shower. This includes poolside speakers or portable Bluetooth speakers, which are also suitable.
Are these speakers resistant to saltwater too?
Any waterproof speaker should be able to hold up against the corrosive effects of saltwater, but prolonged exposure will damage most electronics. Be sure to thoroughly rinse off your speaker with clean water after every use in salt water.
Is Bluetooth audio quality bad?
Bluetooth audio quality can sometimes be a little bit worse than wired headphones. However, it is likely that you won’t notice the difference unless your ears are attuned to very high-quality sound. For the purpose of shower music, Bluetooth audio quality does the job just fine!
How is waterproofing measured?
The ingress protection scale (IP) is a system that measures the resistance to dust and water for electronic devices like phones and speakers. In a waterproof rating like “IP67”, the first number (6) represents how protected it is from solid objects such as dust while the second digit (7) indicates its level of waterproofing by measuring if it can handle being submerged in liquid at 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes.
